How to make your own traditional Japanese kimono

Cut the fabric to size

The kimono should be long enough to reach the floor and wide enough to wrap around your body twice.

Sew the lining fabric to the outer fabric

Sew the lining fabric to the wrong side of the outer fabric

Sew the sleeves to the kimono.

The sleeves should be long enough to reach your wrists.

The sleeves should be long enough to reach your wrists.

Sew the collar to the kimono.

 The collar should be wide enough to fit around your neck comfortably.

Hem the kimono

Fold the bottom of the kimono up by about 1 inch and sew it in place

Your kimono is now complete!
