Harvest Moon Joins Parade of Planets in Night Sky This Week

– The Harvest Moon will rise on Friday, September 29, 2023 at around 18:33 EDT (2233 GMT).

– The moon will be joined by the planets Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury in the night sky.

– This rare celestial event will be visible for skywatchers around the world.

The best time to see the Harvest Moon and planets is after sunset,  

– when they are high in the sky.

No special equipment is needed to see the Harvest Moon and planets 

but binoculars or a telescope can enhance the view. 

– The Harvest Moon is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox, which is on September 22, 2023 this year.

– Supermoons occur when the full moon is at its closest approach to Earth in its orbit.

– This will be the last supermoon of 2023.

– The Harvest Moon is also known as the Corn Moon, Barley Moon, and Fruit Moon.
