"Explosive Showdown: US Special Counsel Denies Trump's Plea to Oust Judge in Election Scandal!"

The DOJ argued in a court filing on Thursday that there was "no valid basis" for the judge,

– Tanya Chutkan, to recuse herself from the case.

Trump's lawyers had asked Chutkan to step aside, arguing that her prior statements about the Jan. 6, 2021

– attack on the U.S. Capitol raised questions about her impartiality.

The DOJ said that Trump's lawyers were "cherry-picking" Chutkan's words

– and that she had made it clear that she would be fair and impartial in presiding over the case.

– The judge has not yet ruled on Trump's request.

Trump is currently facing four pending criminal cases

– two of which are related to his bid to reverse his 2020 election loss.

– Chutkan was appointed as a federal judge by President Barack Obama in 2014.

– Trump has repeatedly criticized Chutkan on social media since she was assigned to preside over his case.
